Briefmatic makes it easy to view all your tasks from all your apps, all in one place and that includes your starred items in Gmail. In this guide we explain how to view, edit and manage your starred items once they are in your Task List or Task Board in Briefmatic.

Note: To learn how to get your starred items into Briefmatic check out this handy guide.

Step 2 - Open your Task List or Task Board

All the tasks from all your connected apps can be viewed and managed in either the Task List or on the Task Board.

Task List

View all your tasks in a single todo list on the Your Brief page in Briefmatic

The Task List page is perfect for those of you who like to view all your tasks in a simple todo list. All items are grouped according to their status i.e. to do, doing, done. Each item includes a document type indicator, a number of comments tracker and a brief description, a due date and a status. You can click on an item to complete or dismiss a task or to edit the description, add comments, or amend the due date.

Task Board

View all your tasks in Briefmatic on the Kanban board page

The Task Board is for the agile maestros. You can customise the board to suit your ways of working by editing the titles of the existing swim lanes and by adding your own additional swim lanes if required. Drag and drop items to move and prioritise them and use the quick add "Add Task" item to add additional "to do's."

Step 3 - Open a Gmail task in Briefmatic

Your tasks from Gmail are distinguished by the Gmail icon. Click on the item to open the task detail side bar.

As you view the task detail you will notice that the title of the task is based on the email subject and a snippet of the body of the email is included as the first comment to provide helpful context.

Step 4 - Edit a Gmail task in Briefmatic

Once the task sidebar is open you can edit the title or description and add or change the due date. You can also click on Go To Item to view the starred email in another tab. If there have been multiple replies to the email, the subsequent replies will show as additional comments within the task detail side bar.

Step 5 - Complete a Gmail task in Briefmatic

To complete a task in Briefmatic just open the relevant item in from either the Task List or on the Task Board. Once you have the task detail side bar open you can complete or dismiss a task.

To complete a Gmail task item just click on the tick icon. This will move the item to done in Briefmatic and remove the star from the item in Gmail. To re-open the task, go to your Done list, find and open the task and then click on the tick to re-open it. This will move the item back into your to do task list.

To dismiss the Gmail task item just click on the stop icon. This will dismiss the task and move it to your Dismissed folder. Dismissing the item will not remove the star from the item in Gmail. To recover the task just go to the Dismissed folder and click on the stop icon to re-open the item. This will move the task back into your to do list.
